Beach
There are numerous beaches in the Algarve with beautiful golden sands and many of them have been awarded blue flags which means the water is safe to swim in.
The Algarve really is a beach paradise. When you see the sign "Praia" this means beach in Portuguese. The beaches vary from the small sheltered coves to broad endless stretches of sea washed sand. Equally, the sea bed near to the beach can vary from a comfortable shallow shelf to a more sudden drop! In general, the rule is that as you travel from east to west along the coast, the beaches become more subject to seasonal currents.
The closest beaches to our property are Vilamoura and Quarteira.
Vilamoura''s main sandy beach stretches for more than 3 kms. It''s a blue flag beach so is safe for swimming and is nicely sheltered making it perfect for families. The watersports and beach front restaurants make it enjoyable for everyone.
Quarteira was once a simple fishing village. Today it has a long sandy beach which has been awarded the blue flag and has a cosmopolitan pedestrianised promenade. Its past identity can be glimpsed in a 17th century church and a few houses decorated with coloured borders.
You also have access to Vila Sol private beach and beach club at Vale Do Lobo/Ancao which is a short journey away.
